Gorgeous piece of work!

The first thing that strikes me is the very interesting and engaging way the composition is set up. The viewer is looking up at the subject, and the buildings in the background fade away with good use of perspective and loss of value to give the illusion of depth.

The detail on the sleeve leading up to the face is a great idea, it works very well.

The car is competing for attention with the figure. The whitewall tires and windshield bars, in particular, are distracting. If the face is being seen this clearly, then the car across the street is going to be out of focus. The more i look at that car, the more crisp clean lines i see. You want those lines to be blended and blurred up some to make her pop out of the background. That lamp post is not doing you any favors either. It helps to create distracting negative shapes with the car...separating a portion of the negative space out of the composition. You could lose the lamp post entirely and move those birds into the space where the light bulb is now.

It really is a striking piece of work! Love how the figure has such presence, taking up space from top to bottom like that! And good use of subtle value changes to show the planes and contours of the face! It is really beautiful! <img src="e.deviantart.com/emoticons/w/w…" width="25" height="20" alt="" title="Hi!" />
